Recipient firms but also comparable peer exhibit a sizeable negative capital market reaction to United Kingdom's regulatory enforcement actions. This result is invariant the identification of as belonging same industry classification or having propensity scores attract sanction. Indiscriminate contagion, however, ruled out. As per expectation, actions which pierce ‘corporate veil’, that is, target an individual within firm, are related no significant firm-level reactions. These findings, in financial sector, indicate sanctions associated with material spillover effect consistent informed contagion.
